Many of you know that my daughter Shelby is a senior officer (1st Lieutenant) in the Seneca High School MCJROTC Program here in Louisville. Together she and I have been working on something very close to our hearts. We have been making greeting cards and sending them to the retired women veterans here in the Louisville area as well as the former ROTC cadets now serving in Iraq to let them know how special they are to us and their country. However, Shelby is not satisfied with just doing this. She wants to take it to a much broader group of women and men in all branches who are currently serving their country in the military.

She has started “We Care With Cards“. Not only are we sending single cards (birthday, thinking of you, etc) to individuals but also batches of various cards (birthday, anniversary, get well, miss you, etc) that our soldiers could share and give to their comrades as well as send home to their friends and family. Can you imagine the looks on their spouses, family, and friends when they receive a handmade card on their special day from their loved one in Iraq. Especially knowing they have no avenue to purchase cards.

If you have a family member or friend currently service in the military, Shelby and I would love to send them a card! Just forward their contact information to us at chelybug1@aol.com and we’ll take care of the rest.

Thanks so much and Semper Fi!
