Welcome back…I’m glad to see you decided to check in and hear more about my fun trip to Nashville for Leadership Convention! I had gotten a late start leaving Louisville on Wednesday morning and got to the Nashville Airport with aband out 10 minutes to spare before my roomie, Pam Hodges arrived from IL for me to pick her up! Did you know that Nashville has a neat little “cellphone” area that people can wait in instead of having to drive around and around the loop while waiting for their passenger to arrive and get their luggage. It’s such a nice benefit and even has digital screens that tell you what flights have arrived etc. It was fun driving down the hill to the terminal and trying to see if I could pick Pam out since I’d only seen a small picture of her on our LNS Group! As soon as I pulled up she saw my truck and started waving with a big smile on her face. She is a ball of fun and just the sweetest person. I know we will be good friends for many years to come. Here’s a picture I took of her as I pulled up to the terminal. Isnt’ she cute?? (Hi Pam!)
We immediately hit it off and talked and laughed the entire way to the hotel. I had been to the hotel several times in the past but not since it reopened and things had changed just a bit. The valet guys came out to help with our bags and directed us into the hotel to check in. Of course we were both trying to take it all in. It was gorgeous and you couldn’t help but be in awe. As we made our way to the desk, I couldn’t help but notice that Tami Ackerson was standing there waiting. Now seeing Tami meant that a certain person on my Short list (do you know yet?) was somewhere close and sure enough there she was talking to one of the clerks at the counter. I pointed her out to Pam but I was too giddy and chicken to go say anything to her. Hey…at least I knew she was there and I had 2 more days to actually get to talk to her! We checked in and made our way to our room which was gorgeous. I had intended to take a picture but totally got caught up in the moment and forgot. Trust me…it was very pretty and if I can find a fellow demo who took a picture of theirs, I’ll borrow it so I can share it with you! Shortly after our other two roomies (Tammy Baldwin and Diane Glenn) arrived and settled in. It was funny picking beds and which side who was going to sleep on. Seems we all have our favorites at home and thankfully we able to accommodate. Later Pam and I went and did a little walking to find something to eat in the Delta area of the hotel called the Island. It looked just like a little city street with shoppes on both sides. We decided on Pizza since we had our LNS dinner later and didn’t want to be too full to eat then! Shelby had some free time and came to visit which was fun.
She even went with us to the LNS dinner (thank you ladies for including her) which was at Solario (a mexican restaurant) there in the Delta. It was nice but not the typical mexican restaurant that we’re use to here at home. It was fun getting to meet so many of the ladies that you only knew previously thru their posts on the group. (Hi Carol, Carol, Lisa, Nola, Pam, Kristy, Tammy, and so man others) We talked about all kinds of things while enjoying dinner.
I really hated to have to leave but had an optional class about Being at Manager’s Reception Next Year that I didn’t want to miss. The optional class was taught by Shannon West (LOVE HER) and made me realize just how incredibly close I am to promoting to Manager. I’m bound and determine to reach that goal by the end of June if not sooner (fingers crossed). It was definitely a fun evening and a great start to Leadership.
Come back tomorrow for more…..
