It’s That Time Again!
Yes it’s the 14th of the month and time for the April Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop! Sadly I had to miss participating last month due to a visit from Mr. Covid but I’m back and super excited to join 12 other incredible demonstrators from across the US! They are all super talented and have some adorable projects to share. Please be sure and hop along and show them all some love! This month’s theme is “Retiring Products”!
Going Going Gone!
It’s hard to believe that the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog is just around the corner! And of course with each new catalog launch that means a “Last Chance List” of items that are retiring from the current catalog. This year’s list ends on May 3rd. I’m always sad because some of my favorites products are included and this year is no exception! A few of them are a little harder to accept than most but Stampin’ Up! never fails to release something new that I love even more. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the “Last Chance List” and all the great deals – some are 60% off – you’ll find the link below! Remember all of the items are WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!
The project I have to share today is full of retiring products – Can you find all 6 of them? Of course whenever there is a Annual Catalog Retired, we say goodbye to a set of InColors and this year it’s the 2019-2021 Colors: Purple Posy, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, and my two favorites – Seaside Spray and Rococo Rose! I honestly had a dream that Stampin’ Up! did a surprise Color Refresh and both of these were front and center! Sadly that isn’t the case but I made sure to stock up on cardstock in both before they’re gone!
I started with a Rococo Rose cardbase and added a layer of Smoky Slate that had been embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder. For some texture and a pop of color I added a strip of the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper that included hints of Rococo Rose.
Next in Basic White, I die cut, from the Nested Label Dies, the 2nd largest label. Using Memento Black Ink, I stamped the main image from the Fancy Phrases Stamp Set across the center. This is one of those hidden gems stamp sets in the catalog and has several really nice sentiments that are in double fonts.
To color the main image, I pulled out my Stampin’ Blends in Rococo Rose and Mint Macaroon. I love how the colors are soft and subtle but did you notice how they seem to pop off the card? That’s because I added a thin line of shadow around the entire image using my Light Smoky Slate Blend. It not only helps the image pop off the label but also softens the edges. I then added the label to the center of the DSP strip with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For the sentiment I pulled out another of my favorite stamp sets — Itty Bitty Greetings! Now when I saw this stamp set on the Last Chance list I actually screamed out — NO!!!! I use this stamp set all the time and haven’t 100% convinced myself that I can part with it – even if there is something new to take it’s place! I stamped the “I’m Here For You” in Memento Black on a strip of Mint Macaroon and punched it out with the Classic Label punch because well they are just made for each other! And yes sadly, it’s retiring too!! To add a little contrast, I snipped the left side point off before adding it to the right corner of the focal point with the right half hanging off and attached to the card with a mini dimensional.
I knew I wanted to add a bow but we don’t have Mint Macaroon ribbon. What’s a girl to do? Make her own! I pulled out the White Crinkled Seam Binding and colored it with my Mint Macaroon Stampin’ Blends. Once it dried (which was very quick) I tied the bow and added it to the card with a mini glue dot.
I never make a project in the Creative Cove without adding some kind of bling and for this card, I knew I wanted something that was soft and small in size. I grabbed my catalog and decided on the Metallic Pearls in Silver. Not only were they the perfect size but they compliment the Smoky Slate perfectly!
