Hello and Happy Fall Y’all! It’s November 14, 2021 and time for another Stampers Dozen Blog Hop! Our theme this month is Grateful/Thankful/Fall cards! Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I especially love all the changing colors, the cooler temperatures, and pulling out all my favorite sweaters!
When looking through the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs to decide what to use for this month’s projects I knew I wanted something that would work with warm colors but also not be the normal go to stamp set. My choice comes from page 61 of the July-December mini catalog and is called “Time For Giving”. It comes both as a stand alone set (156509 $20.00) but also in a bundle with an awesome set of dies (156762 $45.75). This bundle has images for not only fall but also Halloween, Thanksgiving, Winter, and Christmas! And the dies not only cut out some of the images, have extra little elements for decorating, but have four that cut out frames that are perfect for tags! How incredibly versatile is that??
For the colors I went with the color palette from the gorgeous Blackberry Beauty Suite on pages 44-45. The rich colors in the palette mixed with the gold accents is simply gorgeous!!
Fun Technique with Designer Series Paper:
Did you notice the fun diagonal split with the two different patterns? You can make TWO CARDS with this fun and simple technique. Pick two coordinating patterns and cut them the same size! For my cards I used 3-3/4 x 5. Stack them together in your paper cutter and make a diagonal cut where ever your hearts content! I’m serious – no measuring – just cut! Then take one piece from each pattern, pair them together, mount on a layer of card stock from your palette and decorate before adding to your card base! I did one in portrait and one in landscape and love how they both turned out!
I added the Gold Shimmer Ribbon (156470 $8.00) across the diagonal before mounting to the Very Vanilla Thick (144237 $8.25) card bases and oh my gosh — the shimmer and shine! These pictures definitely do not do these cards justice!!
I wanted to keep the focal point and sentiment more on the simple side and went with my Layering Circle Dies in Very Vanilla and Blackberry Bliss. I first stamped “Thankful” across the center in Blackberry Bliss and then added the wheat image toward the left side in Cinnamon Cider. I added this to the center of the card with dimensionals and while it was cute, it didn’t feel quite complete! The Giving Gifts Dies have the perfect little accents – that can will not only cut out the stamped leaves but also die cut three different leave shapes! Grabbed scraps of Gold Foil, Blackberry Bliss, and Cinnamon Cider and attached them to the bottom with mini glue dots! Of course, no card is complete in the Creative Cove without bling and the Gold Metallic Pearls are my Go To and just the right size!
Here are the measurements:
- Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock – 4-1/4 x 11 scored at 5-1/2 and 8-1/2 by 5-1/2 scored at 4-1/4
- Blackberry Bliss Cardstock – 4 x 5-1/4 (2 pcs)
- Blackberry Beauty Designer DSP (2pcs) 3-3/4 x 5
Hope you enjoyed this fun technique and will pull out your supplies and try it!
